What is water-based screen printing?
Screen printing is one of the oldest printing techniques used in textile finishing. It involves creating a stencil from a fine-mesh screen using a special copying process. In this screen, the motif areas are ink-permeable and the remaining areas are ink-impermeable. The stencil, stretched onto a frame, is clamped into a screen printing carousel, then placed on the textile and the ink is pulled over the stencil using a rubber squeegee. The printed textile is then dried in a dryer for several minutes. In water-based inks, the main component is water. Other components are solvent-based to reduce the time and heat required during the drying process and to enable better processing and durability of the print. The ink itself is specially mixed for each order. Water-based inks are more liquid than other inks and therefore absorb more into the material on light-colored textiles. The water-based ink we use has been awarded the OEKO-TEX Eco Passport and GOTS certification.
